The Organizers of the 2008 Robert Stewart Essay Competition are pleased to announce the winners of the three prizes.
First Prize of $2,000.00 goes to Richard Norman of University of King’s College in Halifax. He is in the one year Bachelor of Journalism course.
Second Prize of $1,500.00 was won by Jessica Potter. She is in her first year of journalism at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton.
Third Prize of $1,000.00 goes to Thomas Patrick Smith who is in the second year of the journalism course at Concordia University, Montreal.
The topic of this year’s essay is “Tolerance”.
The Board of the Montreal Press Club extend congratulations to the winners and a sincere thank you to all the students who submitted entries. The Board is also pleased to note the standard of writing and expression of ideas was encouragingly high. Thanks also are sent to the professors and teachers of the various programs in journalism and media studies across the country who encouraged their students to participate.
Each winner will receive a Certificate denoting the award along with the cheque.
The competition was funded this year by The Royal Bank of Canada, The Railway Association of Canada, and the Montreal Press Club.
