The winners of the 2007 competition are announced today - they are:

First Prize to Robert Walker a student in a joint program between Algonquin College and University of Ottawa;

Second Prize to Benjamin Aldritt of Langara College in Vancouver;

Third Prize to Effie Voulgaris of Carleton University, Ottawa.

The organizers of the competition send their congratulations to the winners and wish to thank all the other entrants for their excellent work and the interesting ideas expressed on the topic of "Honour".

The Essay Competition is organized by the Montreal Press Club to honour the memory of Robert Stewart, journalist, author, essayist and lifelong supporter of the club. Sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada, The Railway Association of Canada and The Gazette, the competition offers three prizes - $2,000.00, $1,500.00 and $1,000.00, for an essay of about 1,200 words, in English or French. It is open to undergraduate students in journalism and media studies at Canadian colleges and universities. The subject this year was "Honour".
